For several years in the late 1960’s into the early 1970’s, Timothy J. Blalock worked in the foliage industry in Apopka, Florida, which is also nicknamed "The Indoor Foliage Capital of the World".
He was highly skilled, knowledgeable, and an experienced grower of foliage plants. Subsequently, he developed a special knack for the sales and marketing field as well. Realizing the need and convenience for "out of state" wholesale greenhouses, garden centers, and flower shops to centralize their foliage orders, he began his new business venture. He formed his own foliage brokerage,
called "Blalock Foliage Service" which later became "Blalock Foliage Inc" (BFI).
Already having a great rapport with, respect of, and support by a number of growers,
Tim steadily built a large customer base by skillfully and consistently providing great service.
Insisting on top quality, he located plants from all classifications ranging from African Violets and Aglaonemas to Zamioculcas and Zebras just to name a few.
Sadly, Tim Blalock passed away in October 2012. However, his legacy lives on in the dedication of BFI's employees to continue "Business as Usual", which means to carry out a daily work ethic that is sincere, courteous, honest, and reliable... To constantly pay attention to detail, to consistently be extraordinary, and above all, to always make the customer feel satisfied and happy.
